Good to know
What a catamaran changes
The practical differences compared with a monohull of the same length.
Living space
Two hulls plus a bridgedeck saloon give far more usable area.
Motion
A catamaran sails flat, which suits guests who are new to sailing.
Cabins
Cabins sit in the hulls, so guests get more separation and privacy.
Draft
A shallow draft opens up bays that a keeled yacht cannot enter.
Deck areas
Foredeck nets and a large aft cockpit for shade and swimming.
Berthing
Catamarans take more space in harbour, and marina fees reflect that.
Under sail
Less heel, and a different feel from a monohull upwind.
Crew
The same yacht can be chartered bareboat, skippered or crewed.
Our fleet

Catamaran charters in Greece: space, stability and shallow bays
Contents
Five reasons to choose a catamaran
1. Stability. Two hulls mean the boat stays much flatter under sail and at anchor, which matters for anyone prone to seasickness. 2. Space. A large saloon and cockpit on one level, a big foredeck with trampolines, and cabins in separate hulls for more privacy. 3. Shallow draft. Catamarans can anchor closer to the beach. 4. Comfort at anchor. Less rolling in a swell makes nights at anchor more pleasant. 5. Easy for families. Children can move around safely on a flat deck.

Trade-offs to know about
Catamarans do not sail as close to the wind as monohulls, and the sailing feel is less lively. Their width means fewer berths in some harbours, and marinas often charge more for a catamaran than for a monohull of the same length. Running costs, such as fuel for two engines, can also be higher. See catamaran or monohull.
Where catamaran charters work best
Catamarans suit every Greek cruising area. In the Cyclades in July and August, their stability makes the meltemi more comfortable at anchor, and in the Ionian and the Saronic their shallow draft opens up many small bays. Popular models in our listings include the Lagoon 420, the Lagoon 500 and the Lagoon Fly.
How booking works
Booking a catamaran charter in Greece with Astra Yachting follows the same steps every time. You send your preferred dates, the number of guests, the type of charter you want (bareboat, skippered or crewed) and any must-see stops. We check live availability with the yacht owners and charter fleets we work with, and come back with the yachts that are actually free for your dates, their exact specifications and a written quotation.
Once you choose a yacht, you receive the charter agreement and the payment schedule. The booking is confirmed when the agreement is signed and the first payment is received, as set out in our Booking Terms & Conditions. Before departure we collect the crew list required by the Greek port authorities, any sailing licences for bareboat charters, and your provisioning or transfer requests.
On embarkation day you meet the yacht in the charter base you choose, go through the check-in and safety briefing, and set off. During the charter you can reach us by phone or WhatsApp on +30 693 918 6245.
What is included and what is extra
Every quotation for a catamaran charter in Greece lists what the charter fee covers, so there are no surprises. As a rule, the fee covers the use of the yacht for the agreed period, its standard equipment and the yacht's insurance. On skippered and crewed charters it also covers the skipper or crew wages.
Items that are usually charged separately include fuel, marina and harbour fees, the final cleaning, optional extras such as a paddleboard, a gennaker or an outboard for the tender, the skipper's or crew's food on board, and a security deposit or damage-waiver option on bareboat charters. On crewed motor yachts, running costs such as fuel, food and drinks are often paid through an advance provisioning allowance that is reconciled at the end of the trip. The exact list depends on the yacht, which is why we confirm it in writing before you book.
We do not publish fixed prices on these pages because rates depend on the yacht, the week of the season and the charter format. Ask for a quotation and you get the real price for your dates.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are catamaran charters in Greece available bareboat?
Yes, many catamarans can be chartered bareboat by a licensed skipper, as well as with a skipper or full crew.
How many people can sleep on a catamaran?
It depends on the model and layout. Many 40 to 50 ft catamarans have four guest cabins, and some add extra berths. Each listing shows the maximum guests.
Is a catamaran more expensive than a monohull?
Usually, for the same length, both in charter fee and marina fees. Ask us for a comparison for your dates.
How far in advance should I book a catamaran charter in Greece?
For July and August it is best to start looking several months ahead, because the most popular yachts are booked early. Outside peak season there is usually more choice at shorter notice. Send us your dates and we will tell you what is actually available.
Can I have a skipper on a catamaran charter in Greece?
Yes. Most yachts can be chartered with a professional skipper, and larger motor yachts and catamarans can come with a full crew. See skippered yacht charters and crewed yacht charters.
Why choose a catamaran instead of a monohull?
Catamarans offer more living space, greater stability, and enhanced comfort, making them ideal for families and groups.
Do I need a sailing licence?
A valid sailing licence is required for bareboat charters. If you don’t have one, you can book a professional skipper.
How many guests can a catamaran accommodate?
Depending on the model, most catamarans accommodate between 6 and 12 guests.
Are catamarans suitable for children?
Yes. Their stability and spacious decks make them one of the safest and most comfortable choices for families with children.
Can I book a crewed catamaran?
Absolutely. Many of our catamarans are available with a professional skipper or a full crew for a premium sailing experience.
Which Greek islands are best for catamaran sailing?
The Cyclades, Ionian Islands, Sporades, Dodecanese, and Saronic Gulf all offer exceptional sailing conditions and unique experiences.
Where do catamaran charters in Greece start from?
From the same charter marinas as monohulls: Alimos in Athens and Lavrio, Lefkada, Preveza and Corfu in the Ionian, Kos and Rhodes in the Dodecanese, and Skiathos and Volos in the Sporades. See where to start a charter in Greece for what each base opens up. Catamarans are booked further ahead than monohulls, so ask early which bases still have one free for your dates.
How much does a catamaran charter in Greece cost?
The price depends on the model and size, the week of the season and the format: bareboat, with a skipper or with a full crew. A catamaran costs more than a monohull of similar size, and marina fees are usually higher because it takes two berths in most Greek ports. Shared across a full group, the cost per person comes closer to a monohull's. See what a yacht charter in Greece costs.
What are the disadvantages of a catamaran charter?
The main trade-offs are cost and harbour space. A catamaran takes two berths in most Greek ports and is charged accordingly, so the running costs of the week are higher than on a monohull. Under sail it is flat and quiet but slower close to the wind, and sailors who enjoy a heeling yacht may find it less engaging. Compare the two in catamaran or monohull.
