Who is on board

Depending on the yacht, the crew may include a captain, a host or stewardess, a chef and one or more deckhands. On a sailing catamaran a captain and host or cook is common; larger motor yachts carry more crew. Crew members usually have their own quarters, so the guest cabins are all yours.

Crewed motor yacht or crewed catamaran

A crewed motor yacht travels under engine, so a long passage between islands takes hours rather than a day, and its flybridge and wide aft deck give extra shade and space. Fuel is the main running cost and is charged on consumption. The motor yachts in our fleet are chartered with a skipper or a full crew, not bareboat. A crewed sailing catamaran moves at the pace of the wind, stays level at anchor and gives each cabin its own bathroom, which suits families and mixed groups. Meals and provisioning

Before the charter you fill in a preference sheet with dietary needs, favourite foods and drinks. On many crewed yachts, food, drinks, fuel and harbour fees are paid through an advance provisioning allowance (APA), a sum paid in advance and accounted for at the end of the trip, with any balance returned. On other yachts, some or all of these are included in the price. Every quotation states which applies.

A day on a crewed charter

A typical day starts with breakfast at anchor, a morning swim and a short passage to the next bay or island. Lunch is served on board, and the afternoon is free for water toys, snorkelling or a walk ashore. In the evening you can dine on board or go ashore to a taverna. See a day on a crewed charter.

How booking works

Booking a crewed yacht charter in Greece with Astra Yachting follows the same steps every time. You send your preferred dates, the number of guests, the type of charter you want (bareboat, skippered or crewed) and any must-see stops. We check live availability with the yacht owners and charter fleets we work with, and come back with the yachts that are actually free for your dates, their exact specifications and a written quotation.

Once you choose a yacht, you receive the charter agreement and the payment schedule. The booking is confirmed when the agreement is signed and the first payment is received, as set out in our Booking Terms & Conditions. Before departure we collect the crew list required by the Greek port authorities, any sailing licences for bareboat charters, and your provisioning or transfer requests.

What is included and what is extra

Every quotation for a crewed yacht charter in Greece lists what the charter fee covers, so there are no surprises. As a rule, the fee covers the use of the yacht for the agreed period, its standard equipment and the yacht's insurance. On skippered and crewed charters it also covers the skipper or crew wages.

Items that are usually charged separately include fuel, marina and harbour fees, the final cleaning, optional extras such as a paddleboard, a gennaker or an outboard for the tender, the skipper's or crew's food on board, and a security deposit or damage-waiver option on bareboat charters. On crewed motor yachts, running costs such as fuel, food and drinks are often paid through an advance provisioning allowance that is reconciled at the end of the trip. The exact list depends on the yacht, which is why we confirm it in writing before you book.
