A luxury yacht charter Greece holiday means the whole yacht is yours: no other guests, a professional captain and crew, and a route that is planned around your group rather than a fixed timetable. You choose where to sail, when to stop and what to eat; the crew takes care of the rest.
This page explains how a private yacht charter in Greece works with Astra Yachting, which yachts we offer, where to go and what the cost is made of. For the crew roles and a day on board, see crewed yacht charters.

What a luxury yacht charter Greece trip includes
On a luxury yacht charter Greece trip you charter the whole vessel with its captain and crew. Depending on the size of the yacht, the crew can include a captain, a deckhand, a chef and a stewardess or hostess. They sail and moor the yacht, prepare meals, look after the cabins and suggest places that suit the weather and your plans. You decide how active the week is: a different island every day, or long mornings at anchor with swims and lunch on deck.
Compared with a skippered charter, where one professional skipper runs the boat and you look after yourselves, a crewed luxury charter adds full service on board. Compared with a cabin charter, the yacht is private to your group.

Private yacht charter Greece: choosing the right yacht
For a private yacht charter Greece trip, the main choice is between a motor yacht and a large catamaran. Motor yachts such as the Leopard 80, Sunseeker 65 or Ferretti 620 cover distances quickly, which means more islands in a week or more time at each stop. Catamarans offer wide decks, very stable living space at anchor and cabins of similar size, and many families prefer them. Sailing yachts with a skipper and hostess are another option for groups who want to sail. See power yacht charters and catamaran charters for the full range.
Group size matters. The number of guests who can sleep on board depends on the yacht's cabins and certificate, and most charter yachts carry no more than 12 overnight guests. Larger groups can split across two yachts sailing together.
Where to go on a luxury yacht charter
Mykonos and the Cyclades
The best-known luxury destination in Greece, with beach clubs, lively evenings and quieter islands within reach. Summer north winds can be strong, so a capable motor yacht or large catamaran is a good choice. See yacht charter Mykonos, Santorini, the Cyclades and our 7-day Cyclades itinerary.
Athens Riviera and the Saronic Gulf
The easiest region to reach: board in Athens and be in Aegina, Poros or Hydra the same day. Ideal for shorter charters and late arrivals. See yacht charter Athens and the 7-day Saronic itinerary.
Ionian Islands
Green islands, sheltered water and lighter winds, good for families and for long, calm days at anchor. See Ionian Islands, Corfu and the 7-day Ionian itinerary.
Life on board a luxury yacht in Greece
A typical day on a luxury yacht charter Greece week starts with breakfast on deck at anchor and a swim before the wind picks up. The captain moves the yacht to the next bay or island late in the morning, lunch is served at anchor, and the afternoon is free for water toys, the beach or a walk ashore. In the evening you can dine on board or in a harbour taverna; the crew can recommend and book a table. Read a day on a crewed charter, hour by hour for a fuller picture.
Meals are planned from your preference sheet. The chef shops locally where possible, and dietary needs, children's meals and special occasions are arranged before you arrive.
Who a private yacht charter suits
- Families who want space, privacy and a crew that can help with children.
- Groups of friends who want to combine lively islands such as Mykonos with quiet anchorages.
- Couples looking for a smaller motor yacht and a slower pace.
- Corporate and celebration groups planning a day or a few days on the water.
If you have not decided between formats, compare a luxury yacht charter Greece week with our sailing holidays in Greece, which cover bareboat, skippered and cabin options.
What a luxury yacht charter in Greece costs
We do not publish fixed prices because rates depend on the yacht, the week of the season, the region and the length of the charter. Every quotation sets out the cost in writing. On crewed charters, the total is usually made of several parts:
- Charter fee – the use of the yacht and the crew's wages for the agreed period.
- Advance Provisioning Allowance (APA) – an advance paid before the charter, from which the captain pays running costs such as fuel, food and drinks, and port or marina fees. The captain keeps receipts and any unused balance is returned at the end.
- VAT and any other taxes – shown on the quotation according to the rules that apply to the charter.
- Extras – for example special requests, transfers or additional water toys, quoted in advance.
Crew gratuity is customary on crewed charters and is at your discretion. For general guidance on budgets, read how much does it cost to charter a yacht in Greece?
Day charters and shorter trips
Not every luxury yacht charter in Greece needs a full week. Some of our motor yachts are also available for day trips, particularly in Mykonos. See boat rental Mykonos or ask us about day charters from Athens.
When to book
The most popular yachts are booked early for July and August, so start planning several months ahead for those weeks. June and September often give more choice and calmer harbours. Read how far ahead to book a yacht charter in Greece.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a luxury yacht charter in Greece?
It is a private charter of a whole yacht with a professional captain and crew, usually a motor yacht or large catamaran. The crew sails the yacht, prepares meals and services the cabins, and the route is planned around your group.
Is a private yacht charter Greece only for large groups?
No. Many couples and families charter private yachts. The yacht is sized to your group; smaller motor yachts and catamarans suit two to eight guests.
How many guests can stay on board?
It depends on the yacht's cabins and certificate. Most charter yachts take up to 12 guests overnight; day charters may allow more. We confirm the limit for each yacht in the quotation.
What is APA?
The Advance Provisioning Allowance is an advance paid before a crewed charter. The captain uses it for running costs such as fuel, food, drinks and port fees, keeps receipts and returns any unused balance at the end of the charter.
Where are luxury yacht charters based in Greece?
Mainly in Athens (Alimos and Lavrio), Mykonos and the Ionian. Some yachts can start elsewhere by arrangement; we confirm the base with your quotation.
Can we choose our own route?
Yes. You share your wishes and the captain plans each day with you around the forecast. Safety and weather decisions always rest with the captain.
